Our Journey
We have over 60 years of clinical experience in the dental profession as registered dental hygienists & dental therapists and as educators in the profession.
Believe it or not, our journey began in New York City. It was around the year 2002, and unbeknownst to us, we were taking a parallel journey with 'The Aesthetic Advantage Hands-On Continuum'. We both worked for principals who were enrolled on the Master's programme and attended to participate in the aesthetic hygienist programme. So this was the start of a journey of adding a new dimension to our roles as hygienist and therapist within our dental teams back in the UK.
This weekend, not only confirmed our friendship, but it opened our eyes to how our clinical roles moved way beyond screening and managing gum disease and allowed the opportunity to learn how to connect restorative and aesthetic screenings to appointment times and better assist patients along their dental journey. We both came back from NYC and immediately implemented what we had learned and successfully moved our practices to a hygiene-led exam, and comfortably moved patients to longer appointment times and used expanded skills to strengthen the teams that we worked with.
